VIA's Chaleur set to resume normal operation

Effective September 3, 2008, regular VIA service on the Chaleur between Matapédia and Gaspé is expected to resume.

Since the washout occurred on August 5th, VIA has been arranging alternate transportation for its customers between Matapédia and Gaspé, in both directions.

Effective with the September 3rd departure from Montréal to Gaspé sleeping car ticket sales for travel between Matapédia and Gaspé will be available. Regular checked baggage service between Matapédia and Gaspé including bicycles and pets will also be available from that date.

The Chaleur operates from Montréal to Gaspé every Wednesday, Friday and Sunday and from Gaspé to Montréal every Monday, Thursday and Saturday.
